Attention Kayakers - We can stuff at least a half dozen kayaks on board for you paddlers. For example, you could get your group together, starting off at Matia Island, don’t stop until you get to Patos, one way. Or, any combination you can think of. Your Mother Ship will be around, loosely following you at a distance. Half way, you might want to have a nice lunch or dinner on board, or maybe it gets a little choppy for you, or you’re tired. Take a break, have a nap, watch a movie, take a shower. The kayaks slide on and off easily. Use your imagination, we can accommodate.
Swimmin’ Hole – there’s a very smooth, soft sandy beach in Sunset Cove that's almost warm on a sunny day - Depending on what the tide is doing, we can bring our yacht really close to the beach. We can use the dinghy for closer support and general frolicking. If anybody gets the hankerin’ to get wet, you can jump right off the swim step into four feet of mild water. By the way, at the back of the yacht, we have a warm, fresh water outside shower for rinsing off.
From Sandy Point we offer you this:
- Afternoon Cruise with optional nature hike, followed by dinner and sunset
The Sandy Point location is real handy and here's why... it's located just 15 minutes west of Bellingham. You don't have to take any ferries to find us.
Let's run through a typical afternoon cruise from the Bellingham area. From Sandy Point near Bellingham, a 45 minute ride brings us to Matia Island. Along the way are beautiful views of Mount Baker. We may also be greeted by porpoises and seals, possibly a whale or two.
The arrival at Matia Island brings stellar scenery. We poke through a narrow opening with cliffs. We may be stared at by a couple of eagles as we progress through to a scenic little bay.
After goofing off around Matia Island, it’s only a 15 minute ride over to Sucia. It's a nice tour through all of this sceanery before we settle in for dinner. If it’s calm enough we can stop out in the middle for our main dinner break. There’s nothing quite like stopping out in the middle when it’s calm. I do mean stopped, no engines idling, no generators running, no noise. You may hear heavy breathing outside. This will be sea lions, seals, otters, maybe some porpoises cruising by. They will all look at us to see what’s going on. I like to stop in the kelp beds, lots of critters there.
Eastsound - For our Sandy Point guests, if time permits, we can pop over to Orcas Island, where you can use use our van to tour the little village of Eastsound. When you get your fill, Capricorn will be waiting for you at the marina.
At Sandy Point we like to board midday, somewhere between 11:00am and 2:00pm. Since we have a 45 minute ride to and from the grounds, we'll make a day of it. Typically we will be returning to Sandy Point after dark. That means 10:00 pm or later in the summer. If you like, everybody can stay on board until morning. There are two private staterooms with full size beds and two other singles in another room. It's much better to send you down the road in the morning after a cup of coffee than have you driving around in the middle of the night, when you're not so fresh.
Give us a call to schedule your adventure!
