Dinner at Sunset Cove -  We'll settle in for awhile in a place I call Sunset Cove, perfectly calm waters to dine by.  Take a look below at the arial view of Sunset Cove (it's really called Shallow Bay, but I like to re-name stuff).  The photo shows calm waters and even if a little breeze shows up it won't affect us because we're so sheltered. You can take the skiff over to the beach, if you want, while dinner is cooking.  When you gaze into the shallow waters and see a few crabs scurryng around, you will then realize why we have taken you to this truly sacred place.

Sunrise Cove  -  There’s a small island in Sunrise Cove, about 50’ x 50’.  It really packs a lot in.  There are three separate beaches and a big mountain there, maybe 6 feet tall, with a grassy mushroom top.   It looks like something out of Munchkin land.  I think it’s big enough to spread a table cloth out for a picnic.    You can row our rubber boat there.  If you take your time rowing, I think you can cover the distance in about three minutes.  There is an aerial picture of Sunrise Cove (below).  You can see this little island and its triangular beaches.  Just a fun place.  This is all part of what you will see as we ride around. If we ara doing a mid-day cruise for lunch, that's where we will stop.

Attention Kayakers  -  We can stuff at least a half dozen kayaks on board for you paddlers.  For example, you could get your group together, starting off at Matia Island, don’t stop until you get to Patos, one way.  Or, any combination you can think of.  Your Mother Ship will be around, loosely following you at a distance.  Half way, you might want to have a nice lunch or dinner on board, or maybe it gets a little choppy for you, or you’re tired.  Take a break, have a nap, watch a movie, take a shower.  The kayaks slide on and off easily.  Use your imagination, we can accommodate.

Swimmin’ Hole – there’s a very smooth, soft sandy beach in Sunset Cove that's almost warm on a sunny day -  Depending on what the tide is doing, we can bring our yacht really close to the beach.  We can use the dinghy for closer support and general frolicking.  If anybody gets the hankerin’ to get wet, you can jump right off the swim step into four feet of mild water.  By the way, at the back of the yacht, we have a warm, fresh water outside shower for rinsing off.

From Sandy Point we offer you this:

  • Afternoon Cruise with optional nature hike, followed by dinner and sunset

The Sandy Point location is real handy and here's why... it's located just 15 minutes west of Bellingham. You don't have to take any ferries to find us.

Let's run through a typical afternoon cruise from the Bellingham area.   From Sandy Point near Bellingham, a 45 minute ride brings us to Matia Island.  Along the way are beautiful views of Mount Baker.  We may also be greeted by porpoises and seals, possibly a whale or two.

The arrival at Matia Island brings stellar scenery. We poke through a narrow opening with cliffs.  We may be stared at by a couple of eagles as we progress through to a scenic little bay.

After goofing off around Matia Island, it’s only a 15 minute ride over to Sucia.  It's a nice tour through all of this sceanery before we settle in for dinner.  If it’s calm enough we can stop out in the middle for our main dinner break.  There’s nothing quite like stopping out in the middle when it’s calm.  I do mean stopped, no engines idling, no generators running, no noise.  You may hear heavy breathing outside.  This will be sea lions, seals, otters, maybe some porpoises cruising by. They will all look at us to see what’s going on. I like to stop in the kelp beds, lots of critters there.

Eastsound - For our Sandy Point guests, if time permits, we can pop over to Orcas Island, where you can use use our van to  tour the little village of Eastsound.  When you get your fill, Capricorn will be waiting for you at the marina.

At Sandy Point we like to board midday, somewhere between 11:00am and 2:00pm.  Since we have a 45 minute ride to and from the grounds, we'll make a day of it.  Typically we will be returning to Sandy Point after dark.  That means 10:00 pm or later in the summer.  If you like, everybody can stay on board until morning.  There are two private staterooms with full size beds and two other singles in another room.  It's much better to send you down the road in the morning after a cup of coffee than have you driving around in the middle of the night, when you're not so fresh.

I’m not going to describe sunsets in detail to anybody here, but picture 20 miles of glassy water facing west while dining and enjoying the view.  If its smooth water you will get two sunsets for the price of one.  One in the sky and one on the water  You cannot capture this on your big screen at home.  All this can be experienced without your colleagues back at the office knowing your where-abouts.  If you have the need to communicate, we can usually get phone reception about 75% of the time.  I love cell phones (no one knows where you are).
Join us for an afternoon or evening sunset cruise and dinner off the North Shore of Orcas Island specializing in the scenic beauty of Matia, Sucia, and Patos Islands boarding late afternoon and returning late sunset to dark.
The two points of departure are:

  • Orcas Island North Shore

From Orcas we have two basic choices:

Mid-day Putt - cruise around with a snack or have lunch. The greater portion of the day shows no sunset.  Up to six folks or a small group can take a sightseeing ride around the islands.  Lots to see.

We can customize your cruise to suit your desires - See Policies and Rates page.

Matia Island  - If you want a little nature stroll, there's a one mile path of serene beauty that will return you to the dock.   There are a couple of little inlet bays that can be gazed at from above. You will also find a small beach at the east end with beautiful sand. The home stretch, with its giant, moss covered trees,  reminds me of King Kong’s island.  Or you can just backtrack the trail a short distance from the dock and have a gander at these extraordinary trees.  Of course you don't have to walk anywhere.   Relax on board and view the scenery through our large windows or from the sun deck.

If we start out goofing off at Matia Island, it’s only a 15 minute ride over to Sucia.

Keep in mind that this is a very personal cruise.  There are typically only 6 of us on board- myself, our chef, and you honeymooners.   The flight deck, or up on the sundeck, is the perfect place to watch this all unfold.  The flight deck has its own couch and table, stools, etc., it's not like an aircraft cockpit there's plenty of elbow room.  The sundeck above has comfortable couches for everybody.

TOURS
If you’re thinking about little port hole windows to view from, they’re down below in the staterooms.  Everything on the main salon and flight deck has maximum large glass. There are four levels to our beautiful yacht. Any one of them is no more than three gentle carpeted stairs apart.  This is an easy move around boat.
